Today was the day that it all came together. As some of the project followers might know i wanted to go dry sump, but as i had big difficulties sourcing a proper oil pan and scavenge pump i decided to go wet sump for now. To speed up the project and to show i’m convinced driving with the R-developments Baffle sump in my car at high cornering speeds! So a bit more then a week ago we decided to take out the engine, to get it to the UK where all our engines are build by a former F1 mechanic.
It was quite a trip last friday but all worth while! Whilst in the UK we also tackled the intermidiate shaft problems, a piece of the engine had to come off to make the Sadev intermediate shaft run free. Furthermore a modified FD-2 oilpump was installed in the engine to make sure the oil supply was fail safe. All oil pump drive parts where also installed new from the Honda dealer. Some pictures:
After getting back home i’ve spoken to Kay when he had time to put the engine back in the car. Friday (today) it was, and i can honestly say we made massive progress on the car. After puttng the hacksaw in the engine (must be a worldwide first
) and grinding off rest material the intermediate shaft could be installed. A picture of the scariest moment today:
After changing my undies
we went on the mate the engine to the gearbox. But first we did an oil pressure check, Martijn (bekerom tuning) came by and he helped us a hand. The engine had almost instant oil pressure, can’t wait to hear it actually run. After checking the oil pressure we mated the gearbox to the engine. Things went rather quickly, as within minutes the engine was hanging in the car, due to the custom detachable front panel setup:
The new brake discs also arrived today, as we had time to spare we dicided to put them on. The fronts are slotted 2 piece discs 285 x25 with floating bells and spoon twinblock calipers. The rears are slotted discs with EK-9 calipers :
Last but not least we dicided to put a last part on the car, as pictures say more the words:
Whats missing? Well:
Everything went according to plan today, more updates soon as the car is coming to shows this year! Keep checking the website, if your interested in parts used in our builds send an email to: info@r-developments.com or contact us using the contact form.
