Time for a new update in the trackday civic blog, we made good progress in the last 2 weeks. Some evenings of hard labour have paid off. Kay Fitted some aerocatch hood-pins to the Civic so it was transport ready! In the morning we loaded up the trackday civic to go to Showoff Import in Dongen. After having some trouble with the lights on the trailer we rented we arrived @ Showoff imports and unloaded the Civic.
After unloading her Kel started working on the exhaust, using a new technique in welding where he “detoxes” te welds for an optimal result. There are some nice updates @ Ape garage in the near future, so please keep checking the website! The exhaust is fully stainless steel, using Vibrant parts and a 200 cell metallic sport cat. For durability and ease of mounting we used V-bands from front to back and a “Slashed” exhaust downturn on the end making sure the noise limits on all circuits are okey.
As pictures say more then words, enjoy:
Kel @ work welding a flex piece to the Hytech header and detoxing the welds.
Check those nice welds using a special post flow procedure.
V-banded middle damper, completely tucked for optimal ground clearance.
Welding up the piece the resitance
, nice “slash cut” downturn all end befor the rear subframe. The advantage of that being we are able to mount a nice rear diffuser without the exhaust interfearing. Furthermore the down turn reduces the noise the exhaust makes. I want to thank Kel @ Ape garage for the great exhaust he made up, if your interested in an Ape exhaust for your car do not hesitate to contact us! The End result:
When we where @ Showoff Imports we also made a start @ getting the bracke lines sorted, As SOI is a HEL Manufacturing Facility all tools where on hand. We are still working on the complete setup but we want to give you a nice sneak preview:
Thanks to Ronald, Michiel and last but not least Mels for fabbing up the lines, more “Br(e)aking” news soon
.
